Slightly distinct but works fine : Tivo C00221 Replacement Remote

I as a matter of fact think I like this change remote great than the one that came with our Tivo Xl Dvr Box (looks exactly the same except has a silver band nearby it). Something about the functionality of the remote that came in the box was failing - the Dvr had issue responding to button pushes, and then began to thoroughly ignore the "down arrow" button, so we had to buy this replacement. The "tivo" button is not as raised, and you kind of need a fingernail to press it down because it sinks into the remote and you might accidentally press other buttons. That is the only question I have with it. It responds so much great than the other remote, and the buttons seem "softer" or maybe that's just me. Now, it doesn't have the memory feature (hence the slightly economy price), but that's okay because I didn't even realize that the other remote did! It doesn't come with instructions, but it doesn't need to because it works right out of the box. Kinda cool. Perfectly good change remote if you don't want to shell out moo-la bucks for the keyboard one (for me, that's just overboard and not even necessary)

Buy low... : TiVoGlo C00212 Remote Control (Black)

First the good news: The upgraded glow remote is very comfortable in your hand. It has decent button layout. From a useablity perspective, I think TiVo put some explore into this remote. We originally bought a suitable Hd TiVo unit that came with the base remote. My wife and I both understanding the glow remote was silly at first. Then we came to perceive that the glow as a matter of fact makes a variation in a dark room. So if you're wondering if the glow upgrade is worth it, we both agree.

That TiVo unit could not be activated. TiVo troubleshot it with us and carefully it was Dead On Arrival. So when we returned it we decided to get the Xl edition that came with the glow remote.

About 100 days into this new TiVo unit, we noticed the channel up button quit working. We called TiVo and it took a Lot of convincing for us to to get TiVo to send out a exchange remote at no charge. The warranty is only 90 days......

So the new Glow Remote shows up. About 120 days later, more buttons (yes plural buttons) just quit working. This time TiVo would not stand behind their products. Thus far my sense with TiVo has been 1 Doa receiver and two remotes that failed each within 4 months. I understand things break. Just seems odd that I had three hardware failures from this enterprise in a row. I'm a techie geek and buy a lot of products with remotes. This is the first time I've ever had the button going out problem. Sad it happened to be same enterprise same remote.

So my advise, if you're seeing for a exchange remote, reconsider a Logitech harmony series studying remote.

I've been a big fan of Tivo ever since they were a desperate, small concern contribution Lifetime memberships for $299!! Well, ever since Letterman started mentioning Tivo, the company's subscriber base started to pick up [They really owe Dave a big Thanks for his casual comments].

We started with the first series, a Philips branded model with a relatively small Linux-based hard drive and Mpeg compression. Although you do not need to subscribe to Tivo to use much of the machine's capabilities, it's not a bad deal; a mere fraction you paid for your last carton of Lucky Strikes[well, it could be your last, you never know].

The Philips-branded box worked well, but with the advent of higher capability video sources and an addition estimate of commercials [now often up to 40% and more of your viewing pleasure]we decided it was time for an "Upgrade" to the newly-developed "Series Two" model, brand spanking new and 2x the viewing capacity of our old Philips.
Woohoo, let the show begin!
No wait, it's resetting itself. No wait, it lost the wish list. No wait, it's resetting itself. No wait, it lost all preferences. No wait, it's resetting itself. No wait, it's not advent on at all but the light's flashing yellow. No wait, it lost all preferences. No wait, it's resetting itself. When the Humax does play, it often "stutters", presenting the viewer with some very lovely but impromptu digitized aberrations.

Wow, "regular" satellite Hd Dolby 9.3 ambient lit television was never this exciting. Before, you simply selected a channel and your tuner very predictably found that channel and miraculously displayed the content of your schedule without a glitch.

With Humax, the suspense alone is worth the price. Did it record my program? Did it remember I don't speak Lithuanian and deleted those channels? Will I be able to watch the *entire* schedule without those wild and crazy digital effects? These and other suspense-packed questions can all be yours for the asking. You can depend on Humax for all this *and* if you order> !now!, you can look send to the bonus features 100% Free with your paid subscription; like countless service calls; like a confused automated telephone attendant prompts; like a fairly useless but very amiable customer service department. What's not to like?

For those without a need for all this enrichment and would prefer to just watch the schedule you desire when you want, I would not advise this brand. However, if you have no life and find yourself developing a dry wit jaded by predictability, I would extremely advise Any Humax!

Just think of the possibilities!
--- For a microscopic more suspense, you could ask your borderline personality-disordered neighbor to watch a part of "Trainwreck Ii: The Movie Again" or a measure of a partial episode of your almost popular "Survivor" series.

Life just doesn't get any better.

In case you're wondering, the adapter transfers power to the Sata drive unit by it's included adapter cable from molex 4-pin to floppy style jack on the adapter. Adapter then perfectly aligns to the Hdd Sata data & power female jack on the drive.

Since my new computer runs a Dvd-style optic drive, and the one I was construction has been somewhat dependant upon driver downloads and such from the newer device, I wanted the very newest Dvd compatible interface for my dinky Xp engine. When my Dvd writer arrived, I was dismayed to see Sata only interface.

My mainboard supports many drives, but only Ide/Pata plug-ins are standard. Although I've used a new old-style motherboard for the build up, my old hard drives and optic drives were routed/jumped with a `cable-select' setting enabled on each drive. That configuration isn't supported for the StarTech device. The adapter jumpers must be set for either of two choices, `slave'
or `master'.

If you're unaware of the point of the jumpers, by all means google the term `cable-select', as it so happens that there's well no inequity of appearance in the middle of acceptable Ide cables and the cable take version, but, you'll be missing a relationship if you unwittingly substitute one for the other.

Proximal spacing of the devices from the mum board should conform to a pattern of `base' plug-in at one end, with slave gismo on the town or internal connector, and specialist gismo at the external or outer extremity of the ribbon cable. If the jumpers and the devices are arranged with this configuration, then your Ide processing software driver should comprehend that `all-is-well', as configured and no gismo conflicts should ensue.

As such is the case, Windows had no qoute recognizing my Sata optic drive exactly according to it's manufacturer identity. The StarTech adapter needs no cut off drivers and therefore any compatibility issues that remained were isolated to third-party software. Make safe bet That All Electrical Plugs Are Firmly Secured.
