Buy low... : TiVoGlo C00212 Remote Control (Black)

First the good news: The upgraded glow remote is very comfortable in your hand. It has decent button layout. From a useablity perspective, I think TiVo put some explore into this remote. We originally bought a suitable Hd TiVo unit that came with the base remote. My wife and I both understanding the glow remote was silly at first. Then we came to perceive that the glow as a matter of fact makes a variation in a dark room. So if you're wondering if the glow upgrade is worth it, we both agree.

That TiVo unit could not be activated. TiVo troubleshot it with us and carefully it was Dead On Arrival. So when we returned it we decided to get the Xl edition that came with the glow remote.

About 100 days into this new TiVo unit, we noticed the channel up button quit working. We called TiVo and it took a Lot of convincing for us to to get TiVo to send out a exchange remote at no charge. The warranty is only 90 days......

So the new Glow Remote shows up. About 120 days later, more buttons (yes plural buttons) just quit working. This time TiVo would not stand behind their products. Thus far my sense with TiVo has been 1 Doa receiver and two remotes that failed each within 4 months. I understand things break. Just seems odd that I had three hardware failures from this enterprise in a row. I'm a techie geek and buy a lot of products with remotes. This is the first time I've ever had the button going out problem. Sad it happened to be same enterprise same remote.

So my advise, if you're seeing for a exchange remote, reconsider a Logitech harmony series studying remote.
